Travel guide gives top marks to Anse Georgette
Photos4travel Travel Guides, based in the United Kingdom, has voted Anse Georgette on Praslin as one of the top five beaches in the world. Anse Lazio, the beach that has won the most accolades over the years, has now been upstaged by Anse Georgette, smaller and less known to the local public.
According to Photos4Travel Travel Guides, Anse Georgette is the fifth most beautiful beach in the world. “The place is so secluded that almost no one knows it exists except the green turtles and the rare hawksbill. The turtles lay their eggs in the pure white sand and take comfort in the fact that they have this magnificent beach all to themselves.”
Anse Georgette Beach is within the grounds of the Lemuria Resort. Until the hotel was constructed in 2004, access to Anse Georgette was open to all. It has since been restricted to hotel guests and a golf course has been built just a few metres away from the shoreline.
The overall winner of the best beach category sits halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii on the Manua Islands. It is is Ofu beach, which is part of Samoa's National Park. Bai Kem beach in Vietnam, Medjumbe Island in Mozambique and Bangaram Island in India make up the list of top five.
